Comment On Proposed Life Legislation |
|
The Northern Territory Government in seeking public comment on a proposed Advance Personal Planning Bill, which would allow adults to make decisions about their life needs should they lose the capacity to do so in the future. If passed the bill would give an individual the opportunity to create a personal future health plan covering issues such as health services, emergency treatment and palliative care or appoint a decision maker to oversee property, financial affairs and other lifestyle matters. The legislation is similar to rights already existing in other states and Territories and is similar to the former Labor Governments Adult Decision Making Bill. A copy of the draft legislation and comments can be made on The Department of Attorney-General and Justice Website. |

A 60-year-old man may need to travel plans after the motor home he was travelling in suffered extensive damage in an accident at Timber Creek at around 6:30pm yesterday. Northern Territory Police Watch Commander Louise Jorgensen said the man pulled up at The Timber Creek lookout to take a photo of the sunset but unfortunately failed to put the handbrake on the motor home. "Unfortunately all he got was the photo of his motor home careering down the escarpment. He thought he had the handbrake on but he may have been mistaken. The motor home came to rest about 100 metres down against a tree. He went down there, recovered the dog and assessed the damage. It was quite extensive and he hitched back to The Timber Creek Police Station to make the report." Police say the motor home is yet to be recovered. |
