A popular Darwin spot has been closed after a bacteria surge.
East Point’s Lake Alexander at Fannie Bay has been closed by the council due to water quality concerns found on Friday.
The City of Darwin announcing a routine test detected elevated levels of bacteria- likely from increased run off after heavy rain.

Further testing will continue this week, with locals advised when it’s safe to reopen.
Council saying locals keen to visit the lake can stay up to date for any information via council’s Facebook.
Notably last year the water spot was closed due to reported sightings of Sharks in the water, which was later confirmed to be a false alarm.
