If you grew up in the 1990s, there is a very good chance you spent hours staring blankly at an eerie, fog-covered island wondering what on earth to click next.
Good news for puzzle lovers who miss that sweet, sweet confusion: legendary puzzle adventures Myst and Riven are heading back to our shelves. Limited Run Games and developer Cyan Worlds have teamed up to release brand-new physical editions of both remakes for PC and modern consoles later this year.
Myst was of course the game that practically sold CD-ROM drives back in 1993. You explore a deserted, surreal island, decipher bizarre mechanisms, and slowly piece together an intriguing family drama. Its sequel, Riven, doubled down on the brain-melting puzzles in an even bigger, gorgeously decaying world.
Now, you can own both in actual boxes you can put on a shelf—no time travel required.
Both titles are launching in two versions:
- Standard Edition ($39.99 USD): Includes the boxed game, disc, and a classic eight-page booklet.
- Big Box Edition ($64.99 USD): For the true retro nerds. You get nostalgic oversized packaging, the official soundtrack on CD, and a double-sided poster.
Console players can grab copies for PlayStation 5 and Xbox, while PC fans get the retro big-box treatment loaded with a Steam download code.
Pre-orders open on 18 September 2026 and run through to 18 October 2026. If you want to relive the golden age of pointing, clicking, and taking frantic handwritten notes on scrap paper, you have exactly one month to secure your copy.
