101 year old man robbed in CBD, three in custody

Three women have been remanded in custody accused of assaulting a centenarian in the CBD.

Northern Territory police charged the women on Wednesday, following a 101-year-old man being robbed in his mobility scooter.

It’s understood police allege the three girls approached the man on Mitchell Street at about 9.30pm on Tuesday.

His wallet and keys were taken, while he was held down by the women.

The man suffered lacerations to his arms and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The accused trio, who range in age from 14 to 19, have been since charged with aggravated robbery and deprive a person of personal liberty.

Detective Senior Sergeant Trent Abbott said the attack on such a vulnerable member of society was disgraceful and abhorrent.

“Thankfully the victim is expected to make a full recovery,” The detective senior sergeant said.

“I would also like to commend our vigilant CCTV operators and attending officers for their swift action to respond and apprehend the offenders nearby.”

Detectives from Serious Crime have carriage of the investigation.
