The NT Government has held a Youth Boot Camp aiming to break the cycle of youth offending.

The bootcamp was held in Darwin over the weekend, featuring conservation work and a team resilience day held at the Litchfield National Park.

It also provided hands-on experience in trades and discussed employment options with participants through vocational workshops at YouthWorx NT.

Minister for Corrections Gerard Maley says the program is a vital part of the Territory’s broader strategy to support rehabilitation and reduce youth offending.

“We know that detention alone won’t change behaviour, that’s why these boot camps hold youths to account and give them the skills and responsibility to try and break the cycle of reoffending. It’s about giving young people the tools and discipline to choose a better path,” Minister Maley says.
