A 22-year-old French national has been arrested in Darwin following a major drug bust.
Earlier this year Australian Border Force officers in Sydney Airport intercepted a package addressed to the NT, which they say contained more than 500 grams of Ketamine hidden in hair products.
The alleged suspect was first located in Western Australia before he was apprehended by police at a petrol station in Pinelands.
A search of the man’s car allegedly found LSD, a burner phone and photos of false identification.
The 22-year-old has been charged with a string of offences and has been remanded in custody.
He’s set to face court on September 30.
ABF Inspector Nathan Grant says the operation was triggered thanks to the expertise of Australian Border Force officers who detected the drugs at the Australian border.
“The investigation began because of the keen intuition and vigilance of Australian Border Force officers, whose expertise and use of advanced detection technology led to the discovery of this deadly drug.”
“Their actions demonstrate the power of intelligence-led enforcement and the critical frontline role the ABF plays in protecting our communities from emerging threats.”
