Road Spikes End Alleged Stolen Car Crime Spree in Darwin

Three men have been arrested and more offenders remain outstanding after a series of alleged stolen car offences across Darwin overnight.

At around 8pm Monday officers responded to reports of two cars allegedly stolen from a storage facility in East Arm, with one of those cars then abandoned at the Dinah Beach Boat Ramp.

Police say the offenders then unhooked another car from a trailer, stealing it from the boat ramp.

Shortly after police received reports of another car allegedly stolen from Charles Darwin University, and Strike Force Trident and Dog Operations Unit were called to duty.

One of the cars was recovered near Holmes Jungle Nature Park and the car that was abandoned at the boat ramp was later recovered by the owner.

Two of the alleged stolen cars were seen on Batten Road and officers deployed road spikes, stopping the cars before the alleged offenders fled the scene.

The Dog Operations Unit tracked down three men, aged 20, 27, and 37, and they remain in custody and are expected to be charged.

Strike Force Trident are continuing investigations to locate the remaining offenders.
