The Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries will be saying ‘apa kabar’ or ‘how are you’ in Bahasa Indonesian this week.
As Gerard Maley leads a trade delegation of industry leaders to Indonesia to showcase our NT livestock.
Our cattle industry is worth 1.2 billion dollars – 90 percent of exports going to the Asian neighbour.
The CLP says the visit will strengthen relations between the country and the Top End – and advance investment opportunities.
“The Northern Territory cattle industry is currently worth around $1.2 billion, and the Territory Government is focused on advancing investment opportunities and growing our export markets,” the minister said.
“The visit will strengthen partnerships between the Northern Territory and Indonesia and reinforce the Territory’s reputation as a long-term, reliable supplier of live cattle and buffalo as well as strengthen our boxed beef trade,” he said.
“The CLP Government is continuing to work hard to make the Territory the best place to do business and invest.”
On the itinerary are meetings with senior Indonesian government officials, businesses and industry groups, and the Australian Embassy as well as feedlot visits.
“It will also provide an opportunity to showcase our agricultural capability and our commitment to high quality, sustainable livestock production.”
