Man charged in Adelaide River following alleged drug bust

A 56-year-old man will face court today (December 9), after allegedly transporting drugs between Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Early yesterday morning officers were able to intercept a black Range Rover travelling towards Darwin on the Stuart Highway following a tip off.

During a search its alleged authorities found 2.5kg of Cocaine, 2kg of Methamphetamine, 2 phones and $3,000 in cash.

The 56-year-old has now been charged with a string of drug offences and will face Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Tim Healey says the drugs have a significant impact on the local community.

“This significant seizure serves as a reminder to those who seek to profit from our community. If we haven’t caught you yet, it is only a matter of time.”
