A 23-year-old Nightcliff man is due to front court today on seven child exploitation charges.
NT and Federal Police executed a search warrant at his home yesterday, seizing a number of computers, mobiles and data storage devices.
He was arrested and charged with producing and transmitting child pornography material, transmitting indecent material and using a carriage service to procure a child under 16.
The 23-year-old is also facing offences of using a carriage service for sexual activity with a child under 16 and causing child pornography and abuse material to be transmitted to self.
AFP Acting Superintendent Mal Bickford says the arrest highlights the close relationship between Federal and NT police.
“And the commitment to investigate and charge offenders believed to be involved in child exploitation and sexual abuse,” he says.
“This arrest should serve as a warning that law enforcement is dedicated to fighting child sexual abuse and bringing those who commit these offences before the court.”
“Our investigators are relentless in their pursuit of anyone sharing or accessing child abuse material.”
Anyone with information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report it online via www.accce.gov.au/report.
