Security guard arrested over alleged assault at Palmerston pub

A security guard has been arrested over an alleged assault at a Palmerston pub.

The 36-year-old crowd controller is accused of assaulting a patron at the Landmark at Gateway at 1am on Saturday.

A 29-year-old male victim suffered injuries to his face and later presented to hospital for treatment.

A number of by-standers captured the alleged incident and uploaded videos to social media.

Security company Neptune NT released a statement earlier today saying it does not condone the employee’s actions.

“The behaviours demonstrated by the employee during these incidents are unacceptable and in no way align with the values and expectations of Neptune NT or the Landmark, to which Neptune are contracted.”

“Neptune NT has made the decision to stand down the security officer involved pending further investigation.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Annette Cooper has thanked those who reported the incident to police and is asking any other witnesses to come forward.

“Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has footage of the [alleged] assault.”
