Two new Police Patrol Dogs will join our force in the Territory after graduating last week.
German Sheperds Axe and Jax began their training in February last year, graduating on Friday (August 29).
It comes following the retirement of Patrol Dog Fitzy who has served since 2019.
The dogs will be accompanied by their handlers Constable First Class Ryleigh Collins and Senior Constable Harry Vincent.
Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro says police dogs are a vital part of frontline policing.
“The NT Police Dog Operations Unit is second to none – from property crime to serious assaults, these dogs and their handlers are on the frontline every day, locating offenders, carrying out search and rescue operations, and protecting Territorians. Their contribution is enormous,” she says.
