New COVID-19 case in the NT, with eight close contacts from Melbourne flight
A new case of COVID-19 has been detected in the Northern Territory.
An 18-year-old Geelong woman who arrived in Darwin on a flight from Melbourne has tested positive to the virus.
She went directly to Howard Springs from the airport.
Eight other passengers have been deemed as close contacts.
Seven of them went directly into quarantine but the other was taken to Howard Springs a while later.
NT Health says there is a very low risk to the community.
“The remaining passenger did not travel from a declared hotspot and is not displaying symptoms.”
They will all undertake 14 days of mandatory supervised quarantine.
