Teacher allegedly injured by student at a Darwin primary school
A teacher at Jingili Primary School is receiving medical treatment after an incident involving a student.
It’s understood the principal was allegedly stabbed in the eye with a pencil by a student on Wednesday.
The Department of Education says counselling and wellbeing support is being provided to everyone involved.
“The school is working with the student’s family and staff member to ensure wrap-around supports are provided,” a spokesperson says.
A review into the incident will be conducted in the coming days.
“All staff and students have the right to feel safe and supported in our teaching and learning spaces,” the Department says.
The spokesperson says no further detail will be provided on the matter to ensure the privacy of the staff member and student.
