Large bushfire deliberately lit: NT police
Northern Territory fire crews are fighting a large blaze that is believed to have been deliberately lit.
Bushfires NT staff were conducting aerial surveys of the rural Batchelor region on Monday when they observed smoke.
After flying to the location, they saw a group of people allegedly lighting fires.
Several vehicles and dogs were also in the area, leading police to believe they were a hunting party and possibly started the fires to flush out pigs.
"The fire has continued to burn and has destroyed a large amount of land including crops and feed lots," an NT police statement said.
"Bushfires NT has saved several houses and structures in the path of the fire."
Police are appealing for witnesses and information on the hunting party.
