Litchfield Upgrades To 'Begin This Month'
The Territory Labor Government is creating local jobs and boosting tourism and recreational activities through a $17.5 million investment in Litchfield National Park.
The investment includes $11.3 million of Turbocharging Tourism funding.
Aldebaran Contracting Pty Ltd has been awarded the tender for stage 1 of the Litchfield Central Valley development, which will see the construction of 18 kilometres of unsealed road and tracks suitable for 4WD vehicles.
The tracks will lead the way for stage 2 works, which will open up five new swimming spots to the public, with new campgrounds, trails, picnic areas, car parking and viewing platforms.
Stage 1 works will begin this month and are due for completion in early 2020.
This investment will allow the park to cope with the increasing demand for tourism experiences while improving overcrowding issues that occur during the peak tourism period (May-October).
