Northern Territory Police have seized a vehicle under anti-hooning legislation.

At about 1:00pm yesterday, the driver of a silver Holden Commodore Ute failed to give way nearly colliding with another vehicle on Leichhardt Street.

The driver then proceeded to accelerate causing a sustained loss of traction resulting in white smoke from the tyres.

Police apprehended and seized the vehicle. The 31-year-old male driver was issued with an infringement for failing to obey a give way sign, drive vehicle causing loss of traction and damaging surface of road or public place.

Senior Sergeant Darrell Kerr said, “Police are reminding road users that it is a privilege to drive and those who break the rules will have their vehicles seized”.
