New Mural Depicts Ormiston Gorge
A landscape that captures the ancient wonder of the West MacDonnell Ranges is the latest work of art to grace the streets of Alice Springs.
The new mural at the Tourism Central Australia office in the Todd Mall, Inside Ormiston Gorge, is by local artist Cecilia Price.
Works of art by Mervyn Rubuntja, Melanie Gunner and Alison Hittmann have already helped to transform public spaces throughout the town’s CBD.
The Territory Labor Government has invested $120,000 in the Street Art Project which is being delivered by Red Hot Arts.
The program, that is creating work for local artists and supporting local businesses, is part of the Territory Labor Government’s $15 million Revitalising Alice CBD initiative to reinvigorate the town and create a more attractive place for locals and visitors to enjoy.
Other projects include shade structures, greening initiatives, a water play area and crime prevention through environmental design initiatives such as CCTV and wayfinding.
