Motorcyclist dies after crash near Cairns

A man has died in hospital from injuries after he fell off a motorbike north of Cairns.

The accident occurred on a sand track near McGregor Road at Smithfield about 2pm Sunday.

A 21-year-old Brinsmead man was taken to Cairns Base Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Another man died after a motorbike and car collided in Brisbane.

The 26-year-old Capalaba man died when his motorbike collided with a car in Alexandra Hills on Saturday about 6.40pm.

The woman driving the car was treated for shock and was taken to hospital for observation.
