Natasha Bedingfield’s dreamy pop song “Unwritten” has made a comeback on the charts after 19 years.
It was featured in the rom-com “Anyone But You” starring Sydney Sweeney and Glenn Powell.
This track was originally released back in 2004 and ranked sixth on the UK charts. Now, it’s re-emerged just in time for its 20th anniversary!
Bedingfield herself is absolutely thrilled about it. When speaking to The Line Of Best Fit, Bedingfield said that “I’ve had songs in movies before, but this time, I really love the way it’s been used in such a special way that it makes you feel joyful. People are actually singing it as they leave the theatre!”
“Over the years, Unwritten has somehow become an anthem to sing at the top of your lungs. This makes me the happiest girl in the world as I have always felt that a good pop song is actually something you can belt. Like a good football song!”
And you know what’s even more interesting? This isn’t the first time Bedingfield’s songs have found success in movies.
Her song ‘Pocket Full of Sunshine’ went viral after Emma Stone’s character sang it in the teen comedy “Easy A” all the way back in 2010!
Unwritten isn’t the only awesome old school song to make a comeback in the charts lately, all thanks to popular TV shows and movies.
Thanks to Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’, we got to groove to Kate Bush’s ‘Running up That Hill’ once again, and most recently, Sophie Elis Bexter’s mega hit ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ has resurfaced thanks to all the buzz surrounding the controversial movie ‘Saltburn’.
All in all, it’s just awesome to see these songs making a comeback and bringing joy to people. Keep singing and keep spreading the positive vibes!
