Get ready to saddle up and dive deep, block fans, because the Mounts of Mayhem game drop is charging into Minecraft’s Java and Bedrock Editions today! This full-blown combat and exploration shake-up that redefines how you conquer the Overworld’s harshest biomes, and even its oceans.

If your standard horse and diamond sword combo was starting to feel a bit… pedestrian, you’re in luck. This update brings a wild crew of new mobs, an all-new weapon class, and the long-awaited ability for your trusty steed to finally swim.

Desert Warfare: Two Riders are Always Trouble

The desert is no longer a slow trek—it’s a high-stakes, mounted skirmish zone. Enter the Camel Husk, a new passive mob that looks suspiciously undead but is truly just the ride of some mean customers. These tall, sandy transports often spawn with two hostile riders: a Husk and a brand-new foe, the Parched.

  • The Parched are a new skeleton variant that’s immune to sunlight and loves to pose a daytime challenge.
  • The Husk rider will be wielding the other major addition: the Spear.

To tame a majestic, albeit slightly ghastly, Camel Husk for yourself, you’ll first have to unseat both of its daylight-immune riders. Good luck in that mounted and ranged combat against two opponents! They won’t go down easy, but the prize is well worth the fight.

The Spear: Speed is Damage

The introduction of the Spear is a massive game-changer for combat. Perfect for both up-close jabbing and high-speed mounted attacks, its damage is directly tied to your velocity. The faster you’re moving—whether on a horse, an Elytra, or one of the new mounts—the harder the Spear hits.

Want to feel like a medieval jouster? Then you’ll need the new Lunge enchantment. This unique enchantment gives you a burst of speed during a jab attack, letting you close the gap on your target (or knock them off their own mount) in an instant. Higher enchantment levels mean even greater reach. It’s safe to say this will drastically shift the strategy in PvP and PvE encounters.

Ocean Deep: Taming the Current

The new aquatic mount, the Nautilus, is here to make ocean exploration a genuine joy. This neutral mob, tamed with the fittingly fishy treat of a Pufferfish, not only grants a helpful speed boost underwater but also preserves your existing air supply while you’re mounted. Hello, deep-sea exploration!

Of course, nowhere in Minecraft is safe from the undead. Be on the lookout for the Zombie Nautilus lurking in the oceans, often with a trident-wielding Drowned as its passenger. To claim this adorably terrifying mount, you’ll have to deal with the rider first, then tempt the Zombie Nautilus with that same favourite treat. Watch out for a rumoured rare variant in warmer waters; the rewards might be worth the risk!

Classic Rides Get a Glow-Up

Even your faithful four-legged companions are getting a bit of love. Horses can finally swim in the Overworld’s waters. It might be at a slower pace, but the days of awkwardly circumventing every river and pond are thankfully over.

And for the truly block-rich explorers, you can now craft Netherite Horse Armour. By combining Diamond Horse Armour with a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template and an Ingot, your steed will be decked out in the toughest, mightiest-looking gear in the game. Undead horses are also making a debut in the survival realm, spawning at night with spear-wielding zombie riders, tame the mount once you dispatch the driver!

Get ready to jump into the action. Whether you’re charging down a desert ridge, lunging at foes from the back of a Zombie Horse, or deep-sea diving on a Nautilus, the Mounts of Mayhem drop is set to inject a huge dose of fresh combat and exploration into the game.
