Six people have been arrested over a ram raid at Berry Springs Tavern.
The group allegedly stole two Toyota Landcruiser from properties in Darwin last Thursday, with the vehicles captured on CCTV at a Jingili service station heading towards Berry Springs.
One of the vehicles was used to ram the roller door of the bottle shop, with the group caught on camera entering the store.
They allegedly stole a large sum of cash and alcohol before fleeing the scene.
Two staff members, who were inside at the time of the incident, notified police.
Officers later spotted the vehicle at a service station in Coolalinga but as they approached the car drove off with the pump nozzle still attached.
The car, which belonged to a Darwin trade school student, was later abandoned in Wadeye and stored in the local police compound.
Three days later the group allegedly entered the facility and stole the vehicle again, ramming it through the gates.
Officers found the car an hour later but the driver allegedly took off at high speed along bush tracks, dumping the Landcruiser near the community.
Five boys aged between 16 and 17 handed themselves in to local police after a 30-year-old man was arrested yesterday.
A 16-year-old was released to be summonsed, with the others facing a string of charges.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland says the arrests come after an extensive investigation involving Strike Force Trident, the Dog Operations Unit and members from Daly River and Wadeye.
“This group has caused distress to local business owners and it’s simply not fair that the community has to endure this type of behaviour.”
He says work is still ongoing.
“We’re continuing to investigate and locate further offenders and anyone with information is urged to contact police on 131 444.”
