Police are investigating the death of a young child in the East Arnhem Region.
The child was reported missing from the community on Friday afternoon, sparking a search and rescue operation.
The child under the age of five was later found dead, a short distance from their home.

Officers are working with the child’s family and say no further details will be released for the privacy of the family.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
