Northern Territory Police are investigating a pedestrian death in Palmerston last night.
Around 6pm police were notified a man had been struck on the inbound lanes of the Stuart Highway near Yarrawonga Road.
Emergency services arrived shortly after and began CPR but the 59-year-old man was declared deceased at 6.15pm.
The driver stopped at the scene.
The inbound lanes were closed and drivers urged to use alternative routes and obey all traffic directions but have since re-opened.
Major Crash detectives are appealing for any witnesses to come forward to assist with the investigation.
