Federal Labor MP Luke Gosling has been charged for allegedly breaching his bail conditions, just one month after he was accused of assaulting the Northern Territory Administrator.
The Member for Solomon was charged with two counts of assault in July over the alleged incident that happened at the NT Thailand Grand Festival.
Mr Gosling had his bail conditions varied on July 31, which banned him from coming within 50 metres of the NT’s Government House and also requires to give Mr Connolly’s office 48 hours’ notice before attending any event where they both would be in attendance.
According to the bail conditions he must also remain at least 15 metres away from Mr Connolly at all times.
NT Police allege Mr Gosling breached the bail conditions on August 14, and he’s been served a summons to appear in court on September 30.
In a statement, Mr Gosling says he’ll continue defending all charges.
“Neither Mr Gosling or his office have been made aware of the nature of the alleged breach and have been provided no information from Police other than a summons.”
“On Friday 14th August Mr Gosling did not attend any events at the same time as the Administrator.”
“Mr Gosling is discussing the matter with his legal team, and will be defending the charge.”
Mr Luke Gosling is the Special Envoy for Defence, Veterans’ Affairs and Northern Australia and has held the seat of Solomon since 2016.
