Man charged with murder over stabbing on Todd Street

A man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Alice Springs.

The 23-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 32-year-old man with an edged weapon on the northern end of Todd Street last Thursday.

The victim was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries.

A female paramedic was hit to the head while responding to the incident.

St John Ambulance Operation Manager Craig Garraway said she had to spend a night in hospital with a suspected concussion.

“She’s doing really well…chatting to her over Teams, her spirits are good,” Mr Garraway said..

He said assaulting a frontline worker is disgusting behaviour.

“These frontline workers are there trying to assist and help people and this is what they get for it.”

“It does make it hard to get people to come and work here.”

The 23-year-old has been remanded in custody to face the Alice Springs Local Court today.
