Student altercation sends school into lockdown

A Darwin school has been sent into lockdown, following an altercation between two students.

In a statement, Haileybury Rendall School confirmed two older students were involved in an alteration just after 2pm on Monday.

“Sometime later one of the students acquired a knife and staff on hand quickly deescalated the situation, and the police were called”, the statement says.

“At the same time, the school went into lockdown and followed all safety protocols.

“No one was harmed or at risk during this incident.

“The safety and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority.

“The students involved have been sent home and the school will conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation into this matter.”
