The NT Police Force has formally dismissed Constable Zachary Rolfe.

Rolfe was acquitted of murder last year in relation to the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Kumanjayi Walker in remote Territory community Yuendumu in 2019.

Police have confirmed in a statement that they have sacked Rolfe as of Tuesday.

“A 31-year-old male police officer has been dismissed from the Northern Territory Police Force effective 4th April 2023.”

The statement continues to say the reason for Rolfe’s dismissal is due to breaches while he was an officer.

“The officer was dismissed under section 78 of the Police Administration Act 1978 due to serious breaches of discipline during their policing career.”

It is understood that Rolfe is planning to challenge the NT police’s decision to dismiss him.
