Man arrested following alleged uncovering of child abuse material

A 25-year-old man has been remanded in custody after allegedly being found with child abuse material.

Detectives from the Sex Crimes Unit conducted a search of a property in Bellamack on Wednesday morning (March 4), acting on information from the anti-exploitation officers in the United States.

The 25-year-old has since been charged with an array of offences including 2 charges of distributing animal sexual abuse material.

The matter will return to court on April 28.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Sarah Firth says authorities will continue to crackdown on child abuse offences.

“Accessing, possessing, or distributing child abuse material is a horrific crime that will not be tolerated. The Northern Territory Police remain committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community, and we will continue to work tirelessly to hold offenders accountable for this abhorrent behaviour,” he says.
