A 12-year-old girl has been brutally attacked while catching a bus in Darwin.
The girl was travelling on bus number 4 from Parap to Casuarina with a friend when she was allegedly assaulted by a woman at 6pm on Sunday.
After getting off at the Casuarina bus exchange the young girl was assaulted a second time by two other adults.
Transit security officers came to the girl’s aid before she was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital by family.
Police say she sustained multiple lacerations and bruising to her body.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Kren has condemned the attack.
“This was a disgusting and cowardly act,” he says.
The Serious Crime Squad are investigating and are urging anyone with information to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference number 10134271.
